MELTED MASKS

The “Melted Masks” series consists of 100 paintings, each with black backgrounds and different faces/masks that are relevant to people who I crossed in life. The theoretical basis comes from the inspiration of Nietzsche and Bakhtin's discussion on the aesthetic significance of masks.

“Masks” can close or distance the differences between people. Although the mask's surface function is to cover up, humanity is still eager to communicate. Everyone wears a different mask to hide their true self. The dissolution of the mask explains the process of breaking away from the illusion and facing the self.

I want to present the individuals surrounded by the noisy world with the peaceful, desolate, and lonely language of painting.
