Efflorescence Series
Efflorescence is a celebration of femininity , beauty, and the moment when something begins t ofully reveal itself.
This series focuses on lips, feminine faces, and figurative forms, using rich, beautiful colors and expressive marks to explore desire, softness, confidence, and emotion. I’m drawn to the lips because they can say so much without saying anything at all. They can be sensual, playful, vulnerable, powerful, or mysterious. They have a language of their own for the observant, one that transcends the confines of spoken word languages.
The women in these paintings are not meant to represent one particular person. They visually reflect feelings, memories, and fragments of femininity that we recognize in ourselves, and in one another.
For me, Efflorescence is about coming into your own. It is that moment when something inside you starts to open, expand, assert itself, and become visible.
After years of working in black and white, color became a new language for me. Through movement, layered color, and expressive brushwork, I wanted these paintings to feel alive, sensual, and unapologetically beautiful.
A little desire. A little softness. A lot of danger.
